Learning in Year 5

In Year 5, we’ve been developing our reading skills by learning how to skim and scan texts. These are powerful strategies that help us read quickly and pick out key information. We used these techniques to research and learn about inspiring role models, which helped us understand the qualities that make someone a positive influence in the world.

In Maths, we’ve been focusing on multiplying fractions. At first, it was a bit tricky, but we’ve learned how to multiply both proper and improper fractions and how to simplify our answers. We also explored how this skill applies to real-life situations, like recipes and measurements, which made our learning more meaningful.

In Emotional Health (EH), we explored important topics like friendships and conflict resolution. We learned how to recognise and express our feelings, how to listen to others, and how to solve problems calmly and respectfully. These lessons have really helped us understand the importance of empathy, teamwork, and maintaining positive relationships both in and outside of the classroom.

It’s been a busy and rewarding week, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made across all areas of our learning!
