Year 2 trip to Sarvanaa Bhavan
Exploring South Indian Cuisine!
In our culture lessons, we’ve been learning about South Indian food, known for its bold flavours, unique ingredients, and healthy dishes. To bring our learning to life, we visited Saravana Bhavan, a famous South Indian vegetarian restaurant!
What We Ate:
-
Idli – Soft, steamed rice cakes made from a fermented batter of rice and lentils.
-
Sambar – A flavorful lentil and vegetable stew, spiced with tamarind and South Indian spices. It’s usually served hot with idli or rice.
-
Dosa – A thin, crispy crepe made from a fermented batter of rice and lentils. It’s often filled with spiced potatoes and served with chutneys and sambar
We had a very different and a unique experience.
