Technology in Action
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I’m delighted to share the progress our pupils have made in computing across the school. This term, most year groups have now covered the majority of their Teach Computing units, including Computer Systems, Creating Media, and Programming. It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and confidence with which children are engaging with these topics.
Throughout the term, pupils have developed a wide range of skills—from understanding how digital devices work and connect, to designing and creating their own media and writing simple programs using block-based coding platforms.
A real highlight has been seeing how children are beginning to apply their computing knowledge in other areas of the curriculum. For instance, in Year 4, pupils have been using spreadsheets to create data tables and charts, linking closely with their maths work. They’ve also used these skills to record and interpret data in science lessons, such as measuring and analysing distances—showing just how valuable these digital tools can be across subjects.
This cross-curricular use of technology is helping to deepen learning and provide pupils with practical, real-world applications of their digital skills.
As always, we are proud of the progress children are making and how they are becoming increasingly confident, creative, and responsible users of technology.
