Learning in Year 1

Year 1 have had a fantastic start to their journey this school year!
The children have settled in beautifully and are already showing great enthusiasm for learning. Over the past few weeks, we have been focusing on understanding our emotions, recognising how we feel, and learning healthy ways to express ourselves. Through stories, discussions, and fun activities, the children are beginning to build emotional awareness and empathy for others.
We’ve also been learning about what it means to be a good friend. The children have enjoyed role-playing different social scenarios, sharing their ideas, and practising kindness, turn-taking, and using positive language. It has been wonderful to see them forming new friendships and working together so well.
In addition to emotional health learning, we’ve spent time getting used to our new classroom routines. From morning check-ins and tidy-up time to lining up smartly and transitioning between activities, the children are quickly becoming more independent and responsible. They are rising to the challenges of Year 1 with confidence and curiosity.
