Learning in Year 3

This term has got off to a brilliant start for Year 3.

As part of the Emotional Health curriculum, Year 3 have been developing their teamwork skills.  One of the activities we used for this was when they did den building together.

In science we''ll be learning more about our bodies, including about muscles and how they help us move, why it is important to do exercise every day and how exercise helps to make our muscles stronger.  We had intrasports earlier this week, and it was superb to see how the children's fitness and stamina is developing as they get older.  This term the children will carry on  working on their throwing and catching skills.  This is great for their muscles, and for using when playing team games like basketball.

In The World we're learning about The Great Fire of London of 1666.  We're also reading about it in English, as part of our learning about non-fiction texts.  If you get the opportunity, it would be wonderful to take your child to one of the local libraries to look at all the interesting non-fiction books available.  Some children prefer reading non fiction books about dinosaurs, cooking or animals and the library has lots of books on these topics.

We will visit the Natural History Museum on Tuesday 12th May as part of our science learning.
