Year 4 Learning Update

This term, Year 4 have been working incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum and have enjoyed lots of exciting learning opportunities.
In English, we have been writing non-chronological reports linked to our class book, Oliver and the Seawigs. The children have explored imaginative settings such as mysterious islands and magical mermaids, using headings, subheadings, factual language and expanded noun phrases to make their writing informative and engaging. We have also focused on organising information clearly and using interesting vocabulary to capture the reader’s attention.
In Maths, we have been learning how to multiply and divide decimals by 10 and 100. The children have practised recognising how digits move place value columns and have used a range of practical and written methods to build their confidence and understanding.
In Science, we have been investigating sound. We explored how sounds are made through vibrations and learned how sound travels to our ears. The children enjoyed carrying out investigations to discover how pitch and volume can change and how different materials affect sound.
We are very proud of the enthusiasm and effort Year 4 continues to show in all of their learning.
