Culture across the school

This term in Culture: Year 2 had the absolute best time visiting the local Gurudwara. They have been learning about Sikhism in class, but getting to see everything in real life was so much better.
Before going inside, everyone had to take off their shoes and put on colourful headscarves, which was a bit of a challenge but lots of fun. Inside the beautiful prayer hall, the children learnt that everyone sits together on the floor. This is to show that everyone is completely equal, which the kids thought was a lovely idea. They practised sitting cross-legged and got to look at the special holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, which rests under a beautiful canopy.
The children learnt so much about the importance of being kind, welcoming, and sharing with others. It was a fantastic day out, and the children haven't stopped talking about it since.
