Learning in Nursery

In Nursery this week, we immersed ourselves in the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" By Eric Carle. The children were using colourful props we used to bring the story to life, from a soft, wriggly caterpillar toy to a beautiful butterfly! These visual elements helped the children engage with the story in a fun, interactive way.

As we read the book together, we paused to talk about our favourite parts. Many children loved it when the caterpillar ate all the food and ended up with a tummy ache! Others were especially excited by the transformation into a beautiful butterfly.

To extend our learning, we got messy with finger painting, creating our own caterpillars and butterflies using bright, bold colours just like in the book. This activity supported fine motor development but also allowed the children to explore texture and colour mixing in a creative way.
