Dear Parents and Carers,

This term, Y4S have been fully engaged in a range of exciting and meaningful learning experiences across all subjects. Their curiosity and enthusiasm have been shining through in every lesson!

In Reading, we have been exploring our core text, Oliver and the Seawigs. The children enjoyed diving into this imaginative story, making inferences about characters’ feelings and actions, and discussing how the author reveals emotions through words and illustrations.

In Science, our focus on Plants has led to some fantastic discoveries. Y4S have learned how to classify plants into different groups based on their features, and they can now confidently explain the reasons behind their classifications using key scientific vocabulary.

In Technology, the children have loved experimenting with digital image manipulation. They have combined three separate images to create one realistic final image, showing great creativity and attention to detail. They also produced clear, step-by-step guides for beginners using Adobe Express, demonstrating fantastic digital literacy and communication skills.

For Culture, we’ve been listening to and exploring different types of music and songs. The children are beginning to understand how music can influence emotions and moods, and they’ve been expressing their own emotional responses to what they hear with growing confidence.

In Maths, we’ve been learning to tell the time using both analogue and digital clocks. The class is starting to grasp tricky concepts like elapsed time and solving worded time problems, and they’ve shown great perseverance in tackling these challenges.

It’s been a wonderfully productive term so far, and we’re proud of how much Y4S have achieved across all areas of learning.
