Learning in Year 3
It has been an exciting and action-packed term for our Year 3 class, filled with creativity, curiosity and a lot of fun. From writing pirate adventures to tackling taco landings, our learning has taken us in all sorts of directions!
We began the term with some swashbuckling storytelling. Inspired by The Firework Maker's Daughter and our Y3 trip in October, the children wrote their very own pirate stories. With colourful characters and daring escapes, their imaginations truly set sail.
In science, things got a little crunchy as we faced a unique challenge: how to drop a taco shell from a height without it breaking! This fun investigation helped us explore air resistance and parachute design. The children predicted, tested and recorded their results using different materials, thinking carefully about what makes a soft landing.
In maths, we've taken a closer look at shapes and angles. The class can now confidently identify right, acute and obtuse angles – and even spot them in the world around them!
We ended the term with a fantastic Teambuilding Day, where everyone took part with energy and enthusiasm. Whether sprinting with sponges full of water, baking cornflake cakes or crafting a pop-up firework, our Year 3 pupils showed great team spirit.
What a term it's been – full of learning, laughter and memorable moments!
