Learning in Year 2

This week, Year 2 have been busy authors, mathematicians and historians.

In English, the children have been editing and redrafting their Big Write based on our core text Hansel and Gretel. They have worked hard to improve their sentences, add exciting vocabulary, and make sure their stories have a clear beginning, middle and end. We are so proud of how carefully they have been thinking like real writers.

In Maths, the children have been practising counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. They are now using these skills to begin solving word problems, showing fantastic perseverance and growing number confidence.

In their Culture lessons, Year 2 explored the history and traditions of the East End by learning about the famous dish, pie and mash. The children enjoyed discovering how this meal became such an important part of local life, and they were especially excited to try some delicious vegetable pie, mash and gravy on Friday. It was a big hit!
