Learning in Reception

This week in Reception, the children were focusing on doctors. This is part of their theme linked to people who help us. In literacy, the children drew hospitals, ambulances, paramedics and patients. They used their phonics knowledge to write initial sounds linked to the theme. Even more impressive, some children are now beginning to write CVC words independently. In PSED, the children looked at visuals of what can be found in a doctor surgery. They then conducted some role play to imitate them being a patient who was seen by the doctor. They used doctor kits to check their patients heart beat, blood pressure and temperature. The children did amazingly well and really enjoyed this topic.
