Maths across school

Children across the school have engaged in a wide variety of learning activities to support their understanding and knowledge of maths.  Each year builds on the knowledge and understanding that the children should have acquired in the previous year.

For many year groups, especially in EYFS and KS1, the focus has been on developing and strengthening children's knowledge of numbers.  Lessons have included lots of hands on learning using concrete manipulatives (objects) to create a mental model of the concepts they're learning, for example being able to compare and order numbers, or write them in words.  Meanwhile in other year groups objects and images have been used to develop children's understanding of calculations and fractions.  Take a look to see what children across the school have been up to.

If you have the opportunity, please ask your child about what they've been learning about in school, to give them the opportunity to be an expert and be a mini teacher.
