Learning in Year 4

Year 4 have been incredibly busy this half term, spending the last few weeks rehearsing for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They have been developing their communication skills through singing, dancing and acting, showing fantastic confidence, teamwork and creativity.
Alongside rehearsals, the children have written and created their own songs and dances, as well as designing and making their own props. This has been a very hands on and creative performance. Parents are warmly invited to join us on Friday 6th February to celebrate the children’s efforts and enjoy the performance.
In addition to their work in the arts, the children have been learning how to write their own newspaper reports as part of their writing curriculum. In maths, they have been developing their fluency skills, with a strong focus on multiplication and times tables. Children are being encouraged to learn their times tables up to 12 × 12, and they are working incredibly hard to improve their recall, with the aim that the majority of pupils will improve all their times tables by Easter with your help from home appreciated too!
Ms Siddiqah has a designated maths fluency intervention every Thursday after school, where all children in Year 4 are encouraged to attend 3.30-4.30pm.
