Learning in Year 5

This term, the Year 5 class visited the Purfleet Heritage Site to learn about World War II. It was an exciting and educational trip that helped them understand what life was like during the war. When they arrived, they explored different areas and learned how people lived at the time. They discovered how families had to ration their food and make careful use of limited supplies.

The children also learned about air raids and how people stayed safe during bombings. One of the most memorable experiences was going into a shelter, where they found out what it might have felt like during an air raid. It was dark and cramped, which helped them imagine how frightening it must have been.

Another highlight of the visit was dressing up in different uniforms from World War II. This allowed the children to imagine what it was like to be a soldier or a worker during that time. They even had the opportunity to hold a real rifle, which made the experience feel even more realistic and exciting.

Overall, the trip helped the class to better understand the past. It made learning about World War II more engaging and memorable, and the children came away with lots of new knowledge and experience.
