Maths across the school

Incredibly, we are ⅔ of the way through the school year, and it is amazing to see the progress all children are making. This term, year groups have covered multiplication and division (Years 1 and 2), fractions (Year 3 and 4), percentages (Year 5) and geometry (Year 6). Please take the time to ask your child about what they’re learning, as it strengthens their own understanding if they have to explain it to another person.
Using objects to support learning is key, and all year groups do it and here are just a few examples. In Nursery, children have been exploring how to make a rocket using different objects and shapes. They also used bricks to create different patterns.
Meanwhile, Year 1 has learnt how to add two numbers by counting. They used a number line to help work out the answers to maths problems.
Year 3 have also used objects to help them with their learning, when exploring that fractions were equal parts of a whole object or amount.
If you get time, you could ask your child, “What things have you used in school to help you with your learning?”
