Learning in Year 5

Apart from our visit to the Cartoon Museum, Year 5 have been learning about the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages in Maths and looking at a range of biographies in English. In Science, we have been learning about Forces, making links to our prior learning about gravity. We have been conducting a range of fun and engaging experiments. In Technology, the pupils have been developing their coding skills on the programme ‘Scratch’ and more recently, learning about databases.

In Emotional Health, we are covering the topics of empathy, conflict resolution, safety on public transport, immigration and stereotypes. For our Culture work, we have been learning about Cubism, Music (Opera) and we will be covering VE Day next week.

In Physical Health, we have been developing different ball control skills, as well as related games and exercises. In Communication, they will be exploring design ideas for ‘eco-islands’ and developing vocabulary linked to both our English and Science topics.
