The Importance of Healthy School Meals

This week year 6 children visited the House of Commons as part of National School Meals Week (NSMW).

Children engaged with over 40 MPs and Peers as they sampled the very best of school meals from a specially designed 25th anniversary menu in the aptly named Jubilee Room.

The lunch enforced the message of the importance of a hot, nourishing meal in the middle of the day to ‘power’ children in all the important areas of their academic and physical development.

Steve Kemp, sector director at ISS Education said: “I couldn’t be happier with how our National School Meals week activities went. It’s wonderful to see so many of our staff and schools engaging with the celebrations.

“When I see children excited to try healthy, homemade food, socialising while they eat, and leaving the dining room happy and satisfied it shows how important great school food is. What LACA do is fantastic, and I am glad we have the opportunity to support NSMW.”
