Year 6 Trip to HMS Belfast

On Wednesday 27th November, Year 6 visited HMS Belfast in central London. This educational trip linked brilliantly to their recent learning about World War Two. Students were able to explore all nine decks of the ship, which included a lot of climbing up and down ladders. They visited the engine room, gun turret and captain's chairs, which helped to immerse themselves fully into what life would have been like to live on the HMS Belfast.

Here are some insightful quotes from Year 6 children about the school trip:

"HMS Belfast felt like a labyrinth."

"It was outrageously big!"

"Did you know that HMS Belfast hasn't moved since 1971?"

"It felt like we were living in war times."

"HMS Belfast launched on 17th March 1938."

"At times I thought we were going to sink!"

"Did you know that HMS Belfast took two years to build?"
