Technology

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are delighted to share the progress being made as we continue to embed the TeachComputing curriculum across the school. Technology plays a key role in equipping our children with essential skills for the future, and it has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and curiosity it has sparked in classrooms.
This term, pupils across the school have been exploring the Computer Systems unit. The curriculum is designed to ensure a clear progression of knowledge and skills as children move through the years groups, building their understanding step by step.
Younger children have been introduced to the technology they see around them, learning how everyday devices work and the basic concepts of inputs and outputs. As they progress, pupils begin to understand how computers process information, connect through networks, and share data.
In later years, children explore more advanced topics such as data transfer, cloud computing, and the relationship between hardware and software. They develop a deeper understanding of the systems behind the technology they encounter daily, as well as how to use these tools effectively and responsibly.
It has been inspiring to see pupils confidently engaging with these concepts, using key vocabulary and applying their understanding in practical activities. This progression ensures that by the time they leave us, they have a strong foundation in computing, preparing them for the challenges of a digital world.
In addition to their computing lessons, children are now using technology more widely in other areas of learning.
We are proud of the strides our pupils have made and look forward to continuing to nurture their interest and skills in technology.
