 Star learner of the week EYFS&YEAR 1

This week's Star Learner in Year 1 is Aydin! He consistently gives his best effort in everything he does, and his hard work is paying off. Aydin has made great progress in maths, particularly this week, as we’ve been learning about missing number sequences in 5s. His determination and focus have helped him grasp the concept and achieve fantastic results. Well done, Aydin, keep up the excellent work!

 

 Star learner of the week YEAR 2-3 

Mohammed Musa is the star learner in Y2R for actively participating in class discussions and putting remarkable effort into independent tasks. He takes pride in his achievements and understands the value of maintaining focus in class.

In Maths, he has been learning to subtract using concrete materials, visual representations, and his knowledge of additional facts up to 10.

Well done Mohammed Musa, keep up the fantastic work!!

 

Star learner of the week YEAR 4-6

Khadija in Y5SP is a star learner.   This week in English, we’ve been reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and trying to use visualisation as a strategy for deepening our understanding of the text.  She has worked hard at this, trying to understand some of the phrases and words, and then sharing with her group what she thinks the text means.  Over the course of the week she got better at this, and her group benefited from her insights into the story.  Well done Fatima, I’m proud to have you in our class.

Learners of the Term Starfish + Twilight

 

Here are my learners of the term for Starfish & Twilight rooms, respectively. 

This term, Reyansh has shown incredible growth and a positive attitude toward his learning. He consistently listens carefully to instructions and is always eager to explore the different resources in the classroom. Reyansh is highly engaged with his learning and shows great initiative by tidying up in preparation for the next activity. During group learning, he sets a fantastic example for his peers, demonstrating teamwork and focus. Additionally, Reyansh has begun making confident choices using picture cards, showing his independence and progress. Well done, Reyansh – keep up the amazing work!  

This term, Mahfuz has made outstanding progress across all areas of his learning. He is on the verge of moving onto green phonics books next half-term, showcasing his growing confidence and skill in reading. Mahfuz has also impressed us with his ability to write words from memory, demonstrating focus, and he has begun answering questions with increasing volume, clarity, and confidence. Mahfuz’s hard work and determination are shining through, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievements. Keep it up, Mahfuz – you are doing brilliantly!  

 

Learner of the Term for Rainbow room!

Watson has been chosen as the Learner of the Term for Rainbow room! His ability to adapt and excel in new routines has been truly impressive and deserves to be celebrated. Watson has shown remarkable growth in his ability to share with his classmates and actively listen to instructions. His positive attitude and eagerness to learn is infectious, inspiring his peers to join in and contribute.

One of Watson's greatest strengths is his adaptability. As we introduced new routines and activities this term, Watson smoothly adjusted and approached each change with an open mind. His flexibility not only benefits him but also sets an excellent example for his classmates, showing that change can be a positive experience.

We couldn't be prouder of Watson's achievements this term. Keep up the fantastic work, Watson! Your dedication and growth are truly commendable, and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will accomplish in the future!

 

Learner of the term in  EYFS&YEAR 1

Learner of the term is Janz in the Blue class.

Janz is so dedicated to her learning.  We have really seen her progress with phonics, handwriting and her numbers.  She takes real joy from learning and practises those every day in her own time.

Janz is a lovely friend to other classmates, always being kind and looking after people when needed.  She always listens nicely on the carpet and is a sensitive role model for everyone else.

Ms Saunders, Ms Youlden and Ms Opoku are all super proud of you! Well done Janz.

 

Learner of the tterm is Nathaniel

When Nathaniel first entered reception he lacked huge confidence socially and academically. He found it very difficult to approach other children to play with them and didn't want to try any of his learning. Now, four months on, Nathaniel is one of the most confident and popular members of the class. He has gone from struggling to hold a pencil to writing a whole sentence. He now interacts with every member of reception, always has a smile on his face and is pleasure to have in the class. I am so proud of the progress Nathaniel has made and an excellent example he sets to the rest of the class. Well done!

 

The learner of the term is Melissa in Yellow Class.

Melissa has been selected as the Learner of the Term for Yellow Class! Her dedication and hard work have truly set her apart, making a positive impact on her classmates.
From day one, Melissa has shown an unwavering commitment to her studies. Whether it's tackling challenging phonics concepts or participating in group activities, she consistently puts forth her best effort. We’ve seen remarkable growth in her confidence, especially in her phonics skills, as she approaches each lesson with enthusiasm and determination.
Not only does Melissa excel academically, but she also embodies the qualities of a natural leader. She encourages her peers, offering support and guidance when needed, which fosters a collaborative and nurturing learning environment. Her kindness and willingness to help others inspire those around her to strive for greatness.
As we celebrate Melissa's achievements, we want to remind her to keep up the fantastic work and to continue trying her best every day. Your hard work is truly commendable, Melissa, and we are excited to see where your journey takes you!

Learner of the term is Idris in Year 1C

Idris has been an exceptional star pupil this term! He has produced incredible work in English this week, designing his own superhero and writing a short narrative about 'Lightning the Superhero' saving the day. He has made fantastic progress in all areas of his learning and is an absolute joy to teach. Idris had an exciting opportunity to visit 10 Downing Street earlier this term and met Olympic gold medalist, Mo Farah! He should be so proud of the way he represented himself and the school; he was curious, polite and confident - all attributes that embody our school values. 

 

Learner of the term is Anisha in Y1W

Anisha is a Star! She consistently shows an outstanding attitude towards learning. Her behaviour in class and the kindness she shows to her peers is always fantastic. She is an excellent role model who should be very, very proud of herself. Keep it up Anisha, we are all very proud of you!

 

Learner of the term is Kamiah in Y1I

Kamiah is our learner of the term. Kamiah is such a kind and caring member of Y1I! She always treats her friends with respect and kindness, making her a brilliant role model for everyone. Kamiah works so hard in phonics and has made incredible progress. It’s wonderful to see her confidently using her phonics skills independently in her writing. Well done, Kamiah, keep up the amazing work! We’re all so proud of you!

 

 

Learner of the term in  Year 2-3

Learner of the term is Adithyan in Y2A 

My learner of the term is Adithyan. Adithyan joined Y2A halfway through Autumn 1 and initially faced some challenges settling into his new environment. 

However, his perseverance and determination to overcome his initial uncertainty is a testament to the individual that he is. He is a kind-hearted individual, with an enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills.

Adithyan is a wonderful addition to our class, and it has been heartwarming for us all to hear him playing and laughing with his friends - not just in English but also in his home language, Malayalam. 

Recently, Adithyan has been trying to teach me to speak Malyalam, although I am definitely not as talented as Adithyan is when it comes to learning an additional language! 

Adithyan, well done on your hard work this term. We are all very proud of you and can’t wait to show your mummy your hard work and effort!

 

Learner of the term is Thananja in Year 2M

Thananja has been making excellent progress in all areas of her learning. Her confidence is growing each day. She participates in class discussions, helping her peers with their learning as well as completing her work independently. I’m very proud of her.
Well done!

 

Learner of the term is Devan in Y2R

Devan is the Learner of the Term in Y2R due to his consistent effort and perseverance when faced with challenges. His positive attitude towards learning has significantly boosted his confidence, and he has made excellent progress in the curriculum. 

 

Learner of the term is Hassan in Y3S

In Y3S, we are thrilled to highlight the remarkable progress of Hassan this term. His journey towards greater independence has been truly inspiring, and his positive attitude towards school has made a significant impact on his learning experience. Hassan now arrives at school with a bright smile, ready to embrace each day’s challenges. His motivation to complete tasks independently is evident; he approaches his work with enthusiasm and determination. This newfound resilience has allowed him to tackle challenging subjects, demonstrating a willingness to push himself beyond his comfort zone. One of the most notable improvements has been in his academic skills. Hassan quickly grasped new concepts, showing an impressive ability to learn and adapt. His handwriting has noticeably improved, both in clarity and presentation, and the quantity of his work has increased significantly. This growth reflects his commitment to doing his best and taking pride in his accomplishments. Beyond academics, Hassan has also blossomed socially. He has emerged as a confident dancer, showcasing his talents during class activities. This self-expression has helped him come out of his shell, allowing him to engage and play with his peers more freely. His interactions with other children have fostered friendships, contributing to a positive classroom environment. Overall, Hassan's journey this term is a testament to his hard work and dedication. We are excited to see how he continues to grow and thrive in the coming months!

 

Learner of the term is Turaifah in Year 3E

Over the term, Turaifah has built resilience during lessons, answering questions and when it comes to independent work, Turaifah works hard and completes work to a good standard. She often completes the challenge towards the end of the lesson, which is great to see! Definitely on track and excited to see her level of work next year.

 

Learner of the term is Mohid in Y3G

Mohid is the learner of the term in Y3G. His resilience has been clear this term, and he has always tried his best with his learning. He is someone who I can rely on to be honest, and someone I can trust to get a job done. 
Mohid is always offering help to his peers and the adults .Whether it is holding a door or carrying some books, his kindness shines. 
Well done on an excellent term Mohid. 
 
Learner of the term in Year 4-6

 

Learner of the term for Y4B is Mariam Rahman.

She consistently produces work to a high standard and has greatly improved her timetable knowledge over this half-term. She has worked hard to learn these facts and her progress is clear as each week she improves in her times table quiz. She is a helpful, kind and responsible member of Y4B and is always willing to help others. It has been lovely to see Mariam take part more in class discussions as her confidence has continued to grow. Mariam, I am very proud of you. Keep up the good work. 

 

For Outstanding Progress, Curiosity, and dedication across all subjects Y4S

This term, Daniel has demonstrated exceptional progress in all areas of his learning. His enthusiasm, hard work, and positive attitude have made him stand out as an exceptional learner. Daniel approaches every subject with a genuine curiosity, showing a consistent desire to explore new ideas and deepen his understanding.

What makes Daniel truly special is the thoughtfulness and care he puts into his learning. He always takes the time to think carefully about the questions he asks, ensuring they are meaningful, well-considered, and connected to the topic at hand. This reflective approach not only enhances his own understanding but also encourages others to think and learn alongside him.

Daniel’s dedication to his learning, his curiosity, and his ability to engage in new challenges make him an excellent role model for his peers. His progress this term is something to be truly proud of, and his love for learning is inspiring to all around him.

Well done, Daniel! You have shown that hard work, curiosity, and a thoughtful attitude lead to great success. Keep shining and reaching for the stars!

 

The learner of the term for Y4H is Areez. 

Areez worked hard all this term in all areas of his learning. He has shown great self-awareness and has been the author of his own learning journey. Areez has made amazing progress with his times-tables and is on target to pass his time-table check in the coming year. Areez is conscientious and consistently pushes himself in every area of learning, showing great Kensington ambition! Well done Areez.

 

Oishani is a brilliant learner of the term in Y5SP.

She has made lots of progress with her social skills and independent learning.  Her confidence and resilience have grown immensely during her time in Year 5.  She has become more assertive at expressing her needs and wants.  She participates fully in whole class activities and is always keen to learn new things.  In the Year 5 parents assembly, she openly and confidently stated that she wanted to participate in a dance performance and to act in the play.  She did both of these things fantastically.  We are extremely proud of her and anticipate more great things from her.

 

Learner of the term is Lilly in Y5R

Lilly has settled into Year 5 exceptionally well and has truly flourished as a learner. She is a kind, empathetic, and thoughtful member of the class, consistently checking in to see how others are feeling and offering her support when needed. Her caring nature creates a positive and welcoming vibe in the classroom, making her a valued friend and peer to everyone. This year, Lilly has demonstrated increased motivation and focus, particularly during our Year 5 performance. She participated with enthusiasm and confidence, always ready to sing, practice her lines, and encourage her classmates. Her dedication and positivity were truly inspiring.

Lilly continues to brighten the classroom with her kindness, hard work, and positive attitude. We are incredibly proud of her achievements this term and look forward to seeing her continue to shine!

 

 

Our Y5S Learner of the Term is Abinayan.

Abinayan has engaged so well with our different topics across the Y5 Curriculum during the Autumn Term! This is most evident in the extra work and research that he has done on the various topics and subject areas.

Abinayan would often extend his learning at home and then bring in examples to show us the amazing effort, application and progress that he continues to make. He also readily contributes during learning and activities in class, particularly in Maths and Art. Mrs Siddiqah and I are very proud of your excellent work ethic, Abinayan! Well done!

Learner of the term is Asees in Y6M

The learner of the term for Y6M is Asees. Asees is a kind and quiet student who has a strong presence in the classroom.  Her politeness and kindness go hand in hand with her continued high expectations that she sets for herself daily. Always being committed to her learning.  Asees consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic that inspires those around her. Watching her grow academically has been an absolute pleasure, as she continues to set high standards for herself and meets them with grace and perseverance. Well done Asees.

 

The learner of the term in Y6J is Jonathan.

Jonathan always has a positive attitude to learning. Throughout the term, Jonathan has produced great work through attention, care and detail. Sometimes, Jonathan sits and ponders, but you can see that he loves to take the time to think through his ideas before getting them on to paper. Jonathan also loves to read and is always taking any opportunity to read and progress in different learning areas. Reading has impacted his writing in a positive way, and he writes using different linguistic devices for different purposes. Well done Jonathan, keep up the good work.

 

Learner of the term in Y6B is Ayyan.

Y6B's star learner of the term is Ayyan. Ayyan is the star learner of the term due to his insane progress since the start of the year. He has made progress in every aspect of his learning, both academically and socially. He is someone who naturally can be quite shy. However, I have seen his confidence grow in school over recent months to a level where he is now a role model and captain to his peers. Alongside his greatly improved communication skills, Ayyan has also displayed excellent commitment to his writing. In recent weeks, he has written an extremely thought-provoking character description of Hamlet. When I read his work, it is so creative and original that I feel as though I am transported to that world! 

Overall, he is a dream to teach. Well done Ayyan, you are a legend!

Star learner of the week 9th December 2024

 Star learner of the week EYFS&YEAR 1

Aminah was an absolute superstar this term! She is a model student, who is always ready to learn and completes all tasks to the best of her ability. She has worked particularly hard in Maths and is now able to grasp concepts she once found difficult. This term, she has produced work to be proud of. She has made significant strides in Phonics and now reads more confidently and fluently. She has shown fantastic resilience in our Physical Health lessons and refuses to give up if there is a new skill she is unable to achieve YET. This has led to fantastic achievements, and she is well on her way to becoming a confident skipper. I can always count on Aminah to make the right choices. She is kind and considerate to all of her peers and is my incredible little helper in class. I am so proud of all she has achieved this term, keep up the good work! - Miss Chac

 

Star learner of the week Year 2-3

This week, we are thrilled to celebrate Anaya from Y3S as our Star Learner! Anaya has truly shone in her recent work, particularly in her exploration of rhyming word pairs. She creatively used these pairs to craft a delightful short verse inspired by our story of the Stick Man.

Last week, Year 3 had the exciting opportunity to see the Stick Man brought to life on stage at the theater. Anaya’s enthusiasm for the story was evident in her writing, showcasing not only her understanding of the narrative but also her ability to play with language in a fun and imaginative way.

Anaya exemplifies what it means to be a star pupil. She demonstrates a strong work ethic across all areas of the curriculum, consistently striving for excellence. Beyond her academic achievements, Anaya also exhibits remarkable leadership skills, often taking the initiative in group activities and encouraging her classmates to do their best.

We are incredibly proud of Anaya’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and inspire others in the classroom. Congratulations, Anaya! Keep shining bright!

Tommy has shown a fantastic attitude to his learning this term. His English writing and his Maths have been excellent. He has come a long way in his confidence too. Star learner of the week 2nd December 2024

 Star learner of the week EYFS&YEAR 1

This week, we are thrilled to celebrate Yahya as our Star Learner! Yahya has done an amazing job retelling our core story, "Room on the Broom." His enthusiasm for storytelling shines through, and he captivates his classmates with creativity and imagination. Beyond his fantastic work, Yahya is a friendly child who is always ready to lend a helping hand. His kindness and supportive nature make him a great friend to everyone in our class. Keep up the wonderful work, Yahya!

 
Star learner of the week Year 2-3

Samanvi is the star learner in Y2R due to her remarkable improvements in her attitude toward learning. In the past, she would often give up easily, believing she couldn’t do it. Now, she demonstrates perseverance, and it’s evident that not only has her work improved, but she also appears much happier and takes pride in her achievements. This week, we have been learning to add two-digit numbers using exchange, and she has developed a strong understanding of this strategy.

Star learner of the week Year 4-6

Assiya is a lovely girl who always tries her best in all areas of her learning. Recently, she has been learning about cube numbers and prime factors, and her dedication and perseverance have been truly inspiring. She has faced her fear of maths with bravery, consistently attempting every challenge with a positive attitude.

Her willingness to make mistakes and learn from them has been a key part of her progress, and she approaches her work with determination and a growth mindset. Assiya's efforts have not only improved her understanding of mathematical concepts but also boosted her confidence. She is setting a wonderful example of resilience and hard work for her peers.

Star learner of the week 29th November 2024

 Star learner of the week EYFS&YEAR 1

Krishnavi is Y1W's SUPERSTAR learner!  We have been blown away by her positive, enthusiastic approach to learning. She is always the first one to put her hand up for any new opportunity and will never leave until she has achieved and delivered her very, very best effort. She is an exceptionally kind person and is a true role model to us all. Well done Krishnvavi - never stop striving!

 
Star learner of the week Year 2-3

Aasiyah Alam for always persevering during lessons, especially in maths. It was a challenging week with adding and subtracting three-digit numbers and showing different mathematical techniques to see how she got her answer. During lessons, she never gives up, she asks questions and gives it a go! Well done Aasiyah !

 

Star learner of the week Year 4-6

At the start of the year, Tanisha was an extremely quiet and reserved pupil, often keeping to herself during class discussions. Despite her quiet demeanour, she demonstrated a strong work ethic, consistently putting great effort into her tasks and setting high expectations for herself. Over time, she grew more comfortable in the classroom environment. This newfound confidence has not only elevated her engagement but has also enhanced the quality of her work, which now reflects both her determination and her growing self-assurance. Especially with her war poems, always meeting the intended learning and ensuring she asks questions to further understand the use of similes, metaphors and the use of semicolons. It has been inspiring to witness her personal and academic growth, as she continues to flourish and find her voice. Although still quiet, Tanisha should be very proud of her strong start. Well done.

Zakariya has had an amazing start to Kensington Primary. Over the last few weeks, he has settled in so confidently to school and has adapted to new routines so well. He always works hard, and this week did some great description of the characters in Room on the Broom. Well done Zakariya!

Star learner of the week Year 2-3

Zainab has truly shone this term as a star learner! She approaches every task with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, always eager to try her best. Zainab has shown great progress in both her reading and maths skills, consistently completing her work with care and accuracy. She is a thoughtful listener and often contributes insightful ideas during class discussions. Her kindness and willingness to help others make her a wonderful classmate. Keep up the excellent work, Zainab, you are an inspiration to us all!

Star learner of the week Year 4-6

Glory is Y6B's star learner due to the passion he has shown in his creative writing in recent weeks. He is always extremely thoughtful and creative with his use of similes, metaphors, personification etc. Over the last couple of days, he has started to use his figurative language to construct a carefully written war-related poem. His excitement for creative writing is inspiring for both myself and the whole of Y6B, and I will often use his work as a model example. Keep up this excellent work, Glory. Congratulations to Amara for being our Star Learner! She is always a kind and helpful member of our class, consistently showing thoughtfulness and support for her classmates. Amara’s dedication to her learning and her efforts in writing, especially remembering those capital letters and full stops, are something to be very proud of. Her hard work and positive attitude make her a wonderful role model. Well done, Amara! Keep up the fantastic effort!

Star learner of the week Year 2-3

Yuvika is a role model in the class, helping others and sharing ideas. Her kindness stands out as she is always willing to go above and beyond for her classmates. Often, we are most helpful and kind to our friends, but Yuvika treats everyone the same. She is a fantastic learning partner, both on the carpet and at her table, because of her listening and communication skills. We have been learning about mental maths methods, using place value charts and bar models, and Yuvika has worked her hardest to make sure she understands and completes the tasks. Well done Yuvika!

Sheon started Y6J not very long ago, and he is already shining very bright in every aspect of his learning. He has developed confidence, asks and answers questions confidently in class, listens attentively and is always motivated. He a true example of a child with a great attitude to learning. Across the curriculum, he has done well to catch up with his peers and solidify his knowledge and understanding of maths, English, science and culture. He attempts challenges often in lessons that he finds difficult and pushes himself to persevere and not give up. He also does self-study at home and his homework is always of top quality.  Star learner of the week EYFS&YEAR 1

Patrick has worked incredibly hard this week to push himself socially and academically. He is now contributing to the whole learning class and has made loads of new friends. Well done Patrick!

Star learner of the week Year 2-3

Sofia has had a brilliant first week back. She’s motivated, dedicated and working hard in all areas of her learning. I have been impressed with her Science work as she completed the life cycle of a butterfly and a frog and had good presentation in her book. I also enjoyed reading her story, which she wrote during the holidays. 

 

 

Star learner of the week Year 4-6

My Star Learner is Claire in Y4H. Claire has made amazing progress in her spellings and times-tables in particular. She also has a fantastic attitude to learning and is always working hard to improve her learning. She shows self-awareness and diligence. She is an excellent team player and works well in collaborative endeavours.I am really impressed with her progress and cannot wait to see what she achieves this year.

 

The star learner for Y4B is Anika. Anika consistently produces all work to such a high standard. She puts in 100% effort in all she does. She is so kind, and such a role model for all in our classroom. She is creative and comes up with beautiful pieces of art to enhance her learning. She has been designing the front cover to our class poem book and is happy to do this in her own time. Her poem she created at the end of last half-term was well-thought-out and had all the devices that we had studied in class. She strives to be the best she can be and I am very proud of all she has achieved so far and will continue to achieve. Keep up the hard work Anika.
