Kensington Primary School

Kensington Primary School

Clubs

We offer a range of clubs to support the academic, creative and physical development of our children. Academic clubs consist of ‘boosters’ in maths, reading, writing and phonics across the school.  These allow children to practise skills which they may need to develop within daily lessons. These clubs have a positive impact on attainment and progress which is reflected in data across the school.

Specific clubs are in place (e.g. debate mate, choir, baking, creative arts) to develop pupils soft skills such as communication & language, confidence, resilience, independence and emotional intelligence.

Also, a number of sports clubs  provide opportunities for the children to further develop their fine motor, gross motor and sporting skills, and sportsmanship.

The majority of our clubs are suggested by the pupils and are open to all pupils on a first come, first serve basis.

Currently at Kensington EVERY child from Year 1 to Year 6 has the opportunity to attend clubs free of charge. This term there are 39 clubs running per week.

Debate Mate

In our school, Debate Mate is a very popular club as we have many people on the waiting list. We strongly believe that debating helps build confidence and will help in your future life, for example if you would like to be an MP then you need to know how to debate. As well as building confidence, debating encourages children to stand up for their own rights. In 2015 we made our school proud by winning the debate mate cup out of all the schools in LONDON!!! - The Debate Mate Club
