Design and Technology (D&T) gives children the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience of the design making process.
At Kensington Primary School we feel it is vital to nurture creativity and innovation through design.
We follow the National Curriculum, which includes Design and Technology as a compulsory subject at Key Stages 1 and 2.
Our Children are given opportunities to explore and develop knowledge of the man- made world and how it works.
We aim to offer a wide and varied D&T curriculum that solves real and relevant problems.
The D&T curriculum focuses on the progression of key skills throughout the key stages whereby knowledge is applied from different disciplines.
Within lessons, children also develop knowledge and understanding of materials, mechanisms and control systems, structures, existing products, evaluation and testing, quality and health and safety.
These areas will be revisited and developed upon as the children progress through the school. This culminates in our children becoming resourceful, innovative and enterprising.
