Languages - Mandarin
Cooperating with the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at London South Bank University, our aim in Mandarin teaching is to promote Chinese culture and teach Chinese languages. We run classes, workshops and events for all year groups, and offer a chance for students to obtain the YCT certificate (Youth Chinese Test). Confucius Institute at LSBC have many awards to their name and, in 2014, they were awarded model Confucius Institute around the world by the Chinese government.
Studying Mandarin, the most commonly spoken language in the world, can help individuals learn more about China’s charming culture and ancient history. Moreover, developing this invaluable skill can help to increase your employability in the future.
Our work in school provides children with the unique opportunity to learn Mandarin and to participate in diverse cultural activities. We believe such active engagement will help them develop a strong sense of international awareness and cultural understanding.
Currently in our school we have: curricular and extra-curricular language teaching; YCT exam preparation; a Chinese Cultural Club and other workshops for cultural activities - calligraphy, painting, martial arts, dance and paper-cutting; students’ performances at school assemblies; Chinese Family Week, and demonstrations from a professional performance team from China, such as the Chinese New Year Road show performance.
