Kensington Primary School

School Day

The gates open at 8.30am. Children can go up to class from 8.40am to begin learning. The gates close at 8.55am.

Lunchtime starts at 11.30am for Reception classes and 12.05pm-1.05pm for Key Stage 1 and 2 classes. Children who go home for lunch are asked to return to school 15 minutes before the start of the afternoon session. School finishes at 3.15pm.

The total opening hours per week (term time) are 31h 40m.

The morning session in Nursery starts at 8.30am and finishes at 11.30am. The afternoon session starts at 12.30pm and finishes at 3.30pm.

Any quick messages for class teachers in the morning can be expressed to the adult at one of the entrances to the school. Any messages after this time should be directed through the Studybugs or to the office, as teachers will need to attend to the children and should not be distracted from doing so.

Staff will pass children over to recognisable adults only, to ensure that your child is in safe hands. If a member of staff does not recognise an adult, the child will not be released until the office has checked with the parent/carer.

Please give written notice to your child’s teacher or let the office know if you have arranged for someone else to collect your child from school. We cannot allow any unauthorised person to take your child away from school at any time.

Children in Y5 and Y6 are allowed to walk home on their own if their parents have provided us with written permission. Please note they are not permitted to take younger siblings home. Any child in Y4 or below needs to be collected by a known adult. Please refer to our, 'Walking to and from school alone' policy for further details.
